Energy and environment

What industry leaves behind, put to work.

Mining and industry leave behind coal fines, worn land, tyres and carbon dioxide. We develop the plants that turn them into energy and materials.

What we develop

  • Rows of large solar mirrors on posts, tilted to the sky.

    Power to gas

Solar power, water and captured carbon dioxide, made into methane. A gas that can be stored, and that drives a turbine after dark.

  • A pond of black coal sludge with heaps of coal waste behind it.

    Coal waste to energy

Fine coal left in tailings dams, gasified into a cleaner-burning gas. A liability turned into power.

  • Rows of young hemp on pale soil at dusk, a mine headgear on the horizon.

    Mine rehabilitation

Hemp grown on mined land to clean the soil, then refined into fuel.

  • Stacks and heaps of used tyres waiting to be recycled.

    Recycling

End-of-life tyres into carbon black, oil and steel. Plastic into building material.
